FAQs at Maximum Potential Chiropractic
Whether you’re new to chiropractic or new to our office, we know you might have some questions. We’ve gathered the queries we most commonly hear from our patients and people in our community below. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Once I start chiropractic, will I always have to go?
That answer depends entirely on you. If you only want a specific problem fixed and stop care after, that is your choice. Most of our patients want to continue coming in for wellness visits because they know it’ll stop issues from happening in the future. Since the stresses in our life are ever-present, maintenance visits are a part of a healthy lifestyle.
Will it hurt to get adjusted?
No. And if it does, tell us right away! We are
skilled in a myriad of techniques and will make sure you’re comfortable. After your first couple of adjustments, some soreness is normal and you can apply ice to relieve it.
Why would I want to have my baby or child adjusted?
The most common subluxation is the
one that occurs during the birth process. Multiple studies show that 90% of newborns have upper cervical and cranial joint dysfunction immediately after birth, even those where serious interventions were not necessary.
The sooner you get your baby checked, the sooner we can make sure their nervous system is clear from any interference. They’ll have the chance to grow and develop at the highest level and experience abundant health.
Can you help with my colicky baby?
Yes. Colic is your baby trying to say they’re uncomfortable and in pain. The pediatrician will tell you the only solution is to wait. That’s easy to say if you’re not listening to a screaming baby every day! Through birth trauma, a subluxation can cause your baby’s increased stress response. When the subluxation is reduced, your baby’s nervous system can calm down.
Studies show that within the first adjustment, colic episodes reduce as much as 18%. It won’t take long for you to see a drastic difference in your baby!
Does insurance cover chiropractic?
If you have a musculoskeletal-related complaint, insurance covers chiropractic. These include neck pain, headaches and low back pain. Wellness-based care is not covered by insurance.
Do I need a referral from my medical doctor?
No. No referral is necessary to become a patient at our office.
Do you work with medical doctors?
Yes; if we think that you can benefit from seeing a medical doctor, we’ll refer you to one. Many area doctors refer to us, too!
Will I get adjusted on my first visit?
No. Your first appointment is all about gathering information, which needs to be analyzed so that we know exactly how to adjust you. In rare cases, such as if you can return later on the same day, we may make exceptions.
Will you help me with other recommendations?
Yes. We’ll recommend exercises, stretches and anything else you can do at home that we think might help you.
Can I get adjusted if I’ve had back surgery?
Yes. One you have surgery, your spine’s biomechanics change. The areas above and below the parts of the spine that were operated on will try to compensate for the new biomechanics. That means
chiropractic can help you from experiencing issues elsewhere in your spine.
